Welcome to Bogotrax 2012! The Beginning of the End. Some information about Bogota and the Festival: Bogota Bogota is a large city of over 10 million inhabitants with a diverse amount of entertainment, food, sights to see. It is located in the mountains (Andes) and therefore, since much of Colombia is warm and tropical, the city is generally sunny during the day (around 16 degrees centigrade and prone to rain) and cold at night. The city is generally safe, but there are some dangerous areas. However taxis are cheap if you have to travel far at night, or are unsure of your surroundings. There is lots of public transport as well. So,whilst the Bogotrax festival is run from many different venues it is always easy enough to get from one venue to another. The general historical and Bohemian (and touristy) area is La Candelaria (Hostel will be located here...TBC) At the opening of the festival we will give participants and collaborators a list of places to go and a map of the local area so you can meet with other artists and live inexpensively, whilst getting a true flavour of the city Bogotrax Festival Bogotrax Festival is in its 9th year and involves a large range of nightclubs, public spaces, prisons, social projects and residential areas plus a Video Campamento area. All of the organisers and artists provide their time and services for free, but there will be people on hand to answer your questions throughout the festival if you need any advice or sign-posting about the city or events. We thank you for getting involved and are looking forward to collaborating with you during the festival. We have organisers and assistants who are fluent in French, English, Spanish, Portuguese and German so please feel free to get in touch! For now if you have any questions about the festival and the activities please contact Some important things to know - Colombian electricity runs on 110v so it may be necessary for you to bring a converter to make your equipment work As the festival becomes more well-known the venues have become more populated and it is necessary to be vigilant regarding your possessions. If you are bringing equipment please be careful to know it is safe. Members of the Bogotrax crew will be around at all venues and will be keeping an eye on security but the events are very busy. If people who you do not know claim to be Bogotrax organisers and ask to look after your equipment please alert a member of the team, one of security and do not lose sight of your possessions… Finally we hope you have a great time and look forward to seeing you soon!
